Construction Progress of Biogas Plant, Jalgaon, INDIA

[August 04 2009] Construction progress of 1.6 MWel biogas plant in Jalgaon, India (State Maharashtra) has almost seen the completion of civil works. The plant includes 4 High Performance Fermenters (INNOVAS-System) with a total capacity of 8,400 cubic metres of fermentation volume and the necessary pretreatment tanks together with buildings to house certain operations. The important phase of installing pipework and the mechanical equipment has started. The plant will be in operation by beginning of 2010.

Through the concept of combining anaerobic digestion, biomass combustion and a composting, all accruing waste streams from the company’s fruit and vegetable processing operations can be completely utilised – digestible material like banana and mango peels are converted to biogas; pomegranate shells become valuable compost. In addition fruit stones are used in a biomass combustion boiler. All the thermal energy produced (steam and waste heat from CHP) is fed into the company’s facility producing fruit juice concentrate and dried vegetables.

The biogas plant is being built by indian corporation JAIN Irrigation Systems Ltd. under license of INNOVAS. The basic design, support in components purchasing and supervision of construction works is being managed by BMK-INNOVAS GmbH. The project was sold into India together with Sunspun of Melbourne, Australia.

„Multivitamin for Biogas“

Ground-breaking ceremony of a biogas- and composting plant

In February 2008 the ground breaking for a biogas- and composting plant in India has been started. The project for the Indian major enterprise Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd. in Jalgaon will be realized by BMK-INNOVAS GmbH.

Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd is the biggest Indian fruit juice concentrate manufacturer (for example mango, banana and pomegranate). The plant will be used to dispose the daily fruit refuse of 250t, for example cores and fruit skin, environment-friendly and to produce biogas and compost out of it. The biogas is used to generate electricity by 3 CHP-modules with totally 1.5MWel, simultaneous 1t/h steam can be decoupled for the production.
